Nothing happens when I press the release button on my Handpresso

The first thing to check is that you have first charged the Handpresso by pumping with the release button in the closed position. If the Handpresso is holding a charge you will see the needle on the gauge sitting somewhere above zero, ideally in the green range.

If you have ground the coffee too fine, this can also prevent pressure pushing the water through the grounds. Ensure the release valve is closed before attempting to open the Handpresso. Additionally, we recommend waiting for the water to cool before opening. Once emptied, adjust your coffee grinder to a coarser setting before attempting to make coffee again.

If the Handpresso does have a pressure charge and you have tried coarser grind settings, but espresso still doesn’t come out after pushing the release button, contact us to arrange inspection, repair and/or exchange.
